Abstract
Liangshan is a very mystical land and it that bears,
nurtures, and multiplies the Yi Ethnic Minority. The Yi
people have created traditional culture with unique features
during the long historical periods. The balance between
ethnic traditional culture and modernization is a crucial
issue while we face the question of how to carry on and
promote our own cultural heritage. The Liangshan Nuosu’s
traditional culture has declined under the strong waves
of modernization. It is worthy to pay close attention to
how to safeguard the Yi ethnic traditional culture by its
creators and bearers, and how to regulate the mutual effect
between tradition and modernization. The present paper focuses
on problematic issues occurring in the inevitable changes
happening to Nuosu traditional culture and its modernization.
The author thinks that a practical method is to revive some
traditions and at the same time to revitalize traditional
culture in the progress of modernization.
