Oral Tradition and Cultural Diversity

The 16th Congress of
The International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences
(ICAES 2008)
The 16th International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (IUAES) on Humanity, Development and Cultural Diversity will be held on 15-23 July 2008 in Kunming, Yunnan, China.
The panel entitled Oral Tradition and Cultural Diversity has already been accepted by the Conference Organizers. The scholars and researchers who have interest, and enthusiastic to contribute their academic exercise to this panel, are earnestly requested to email the required information and the title of paper, abstract of the paper, and full paper to the organizerof this panel.
Main topics:
1) Cultural diversity and cultural identity;
2) Oral tradition: research, teaching, and fieldwork;
3) Oral tradition as source of cultural identification; and
4) Oral tradition and the Internet technology.
The language of this panel will be English and Chinese

Abstract
The abstract should clearly describe the content, major findings, methodological indication and conclusions of the proposed paper and its relationship to the topic or objectives of the session. The abstract should be no longer than 350 words in Times New Roman, along with the paper title, key words, name, professional title, affiliation, and contact information of the author (s).
Submission
Interested individual participants to the panel should submit their paper abstracts to the Chairperson directly.

- Some delegates from developing countries;
- Some delegates who are recognized to be very important to studies on oral tradition and cultural diversity;
- Some delegates who organized annual sessions and symposiums who confirmed by IUAES Commissions; and

- Volunteers The Chinese Organization Council will arrange hundreds of volunteers serving the conference as well as its delegates at the airports, hotels, restaurants, conference halls, exhibition and scenic spots, etc.
- Conference Reception There will be various related services for conference delegates at the conference sites, hotels and airports.
- Conference Communication A web site will be built to serve the world congress specifically. Letter contacts will be available too.
- Health Care Clinics will be set up at conference sites and hotels.
- Visa The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs will send letters to Chinese embassies or consulates of different countries for conference participants obtaining their visa conveniently.
- Simultaneous Interpretation Advanced facilities conducting simultaneous interpretation Conference halls will be equipped with during Plenary Session.
